My name is Katsuki, and I am responsible for the operation and management of passenger carts and automated wheelchairs at the airport.
In the field, I am in charge of responding to inquiries and providing guidance in the airport building, focusing on providing services to customers. Internally, I am in charge of on-site leadership as a bridge between the company and staff by responding to questions and requests from staff.
My hobbies are ballet and HIPHOP dancing to keep my body moving.
Currently, I am not able to dance much, but I go for massages and do light training to maintain my posture.

MAYUMI KATSUKI
Airport Operations Company A / Airport Facilities Service Operations / Full-time employee, site leader
I obtained nutritionist and chef certifications when I was a student, and after graduation I worked for a while at a hospital and a daycare center, but due to health problems I had to move from one position to another for a period of time. After that, she joined a restaurant, where she was in charge of in-store operations (customer service, menu list preparation, etc.), staff management (shift preparation, etc.), and managerial duties to keep track of the entire operation with a focus on customer management. Currently, I am in charge of operations at the airport, such as assisting customers with walking difficulties to move around, guiding them inside the building, training new staff, and establishing a crisis management system.
How did you come to take on your current job?
In search of new discoveries…
I was first introduced to the company by a friend at a time when I was thinking about changing jobs.
I had worked mostly in the food and beverage industry, so I honestly never imagined working at an airport and it was not an option for me. In addition, I did not speak English, so I was worried that I would not be able to do the job.
However, when I actually went to the airport for a workplace tour and saw a global environment with people of various ethnic backgrounds, I felt as if I was in a foreign country, and I realized once again that the airport is the “gateway to Japan.
In the end, I decided to join the company in the hope that I would discover something new by daring to challenge myself in a position that I would not have chosen in the first place.

What attracts you to your current position?
Staff growth and customer appreciation are rewarding.
I find it very attractive that I can learn languages while working.
When I first joined the field, I was bewildered by the language barrier with foreign customers, but now I am enjoying the fact that I am gradually becoming able to converse with them as I learn a word or two.
I also find it rewarding to be able to contribute to the improvement of customer service and the growth of staff by coaching them as a field leader, in addition to improving my own performance in order to provide services that put safety first and satisfy customers.
Most recently, I received an internal commendation from a customer for posting compliments about our customer service on the airport’s website. Receiving appreciation and compliments motivates me to do my job better!

What are your future goals?
Be able to lead the company
Currently, we are focusing on human resource development, but since we have a diverse staff, I feel it is difficult to provide education tailored to each individual.
However, I believe that improving the knowledge of each staff member will lead to courteous response to customers and safe operations, so I would like to spend time with each staff member to understand their strengths and weaknesses and support them in their work. In addition, as a supervisor, I am often made aware of things on a daily basis, and I would like to make use of these insights to further my own growth.
First, I would like to become a dependable leader whom the staff can feel free to ask questions and seek advice, and eventually I would like to lead the company as the person in charge.
