I am Ashita Piris, and I am responsible for operating passenger carts and autonomous wheelchairs at the airport.
For the passenger cart service, I assist customers by providing guidance within the airport and transporting those who need support to their destinations. In the autonomous wheelchair service, I ensure the vehicles are ready for use and respond to any technical issues that may arise to ensure a smooth experience for customers.
On my days off, I enjoy reading, writing, gaming, and watching movies with friends.

Airport Operations Company A / Airport Facilities Service / Contract Worker
Since childhood, I had a strong desire to work abroad and learn about Japan’s cutting-edge technology, which led me to study in Japan. While attending a Japanese language school, I improved my Japanese skills by working part-time in customer service roles at restaurants and convenience stores. After graduating from a vocational school, I worked as a nursing assistant in a hospital, where I communicated with nurses and assisted both Japanese and foreign patients, further enhancing my Japanese proficiency.Later, through a friend’s introduction, I transitioned to my current role in airport facility services.
How did you come to take on your current job?
I wanted to work in Japan, which is evolving day by day.
In my home country of Sri Lanka, the economy and technology are still developing compared to Japan. Because of this, I had a strong desire to work in Japan, where I could be involved in its ever-evolving economy and advanced technology.Since coming to Japan, I have gained experience in various jobs, including part-time work and hospital roles. Later, through a friend’s introduction, I joined my current job.The opportunity came when a friend working at the airport shared their experiences with me. Hearing about airport operations sparked my interest, and I felt a strong desire to work at Japan’s “gateway to the world.” Additionally, knowing that I would interact not only with Japanese people but also with individuals from diverse backgrounds made me even more eager to work in such a global environment, leading me to apply for the position.

What do you feel about working for a Japanese company?
Teamwork is valued.
Through my previous jobs and my current workplace, I have realized that teamwork is highly valued in Japan, and staff members actively support each other while working.I have personally experienced the importance of teamwork. There was a time when I was struggling with a customer request, and another staff member stepped in to assist me. Thanks to their support, I was able to handle the situation smoothly.I believe that effective communication among staff is key to strengthening teamwork. That’s why I always make an effort to reach out and assist colleagues who may need help.Moving forward, I want to continue improving my communication skills and collaborate closely with my team to ensure a smooth and efficient work environment.

今後の目標は?
I want to do business as a bridge between my home country and Japan.
First, I would like to become a full-fledged, full-time employee who can be consistently entrusted with my current job, and I would like to be involved in following up with other staff members and training foreign staff members. To achieve this, I need to strengthen my language skills and perform a wide range of tasks from customer service to clerical work, so I would like to acquire these skills through daily study and training. In the future, I would like to develop a business that will serve as a bridge between my home country of Sri Lanka and Japan, and I would like to grow and develop so that I can realize my dream!
